We believe privacy policies should be easy to understand. We collect as little personal information as reasonably necessary to operate The Calgary Loop, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices available to you.
1. Information we collect
When you subscribe
When you sign up for The Calgary Loop newsletter, we collect your email address.
That’s the only personal information our standard newsletter signup form asks for.
We use your email address to:
- send you The Calgary Loop newsletter;
- send related administrative messages, such as a welcome or subscription confirmation email;
- manage your subscription and unsubscribe requests; and
- maintain appropriate records of your newsletter preferences.
Newsletter activity
Our email service providers may collect information about how newsletters are delivered and used, such as:
- whether an email was successfully delivered; and
- which links in the newsletter were clicked.
We use this information to understand which events and content readers find useful, improve The Calgary Loop, and measure the performance of sponsored or featured content.
Where newsletter activity can be associated with an individual subscriber, we do not provide that individual activity to sponsors or advertisers.
Sponsors may receive aggregate statistics, such as the total number of clicks on a sponsored link. They do not receive subscriber email addresses or individual subscriber activity from us.
Website analytics
We collect limited information about how people use our website, such as:
- pages viewed;
- referring pages or websites;
- general geographic region; and
- browser or device information.
We use this information to understand website traffic, improve the site, and learn which Calgary Loop content is most useful.
Our website analytics are intended to provide general usage statistics rather than identify individual visitors.
We do not currently use advertising cookies to build profiles about visitors to The Calgary Loop.
If our use of cookies or similar tracking technologies changes in a material way, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.

- the contents of your message.
We use that information to respond to your inquiry, communicate with you, and maintain appropriate business records.
Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your request.

We use personal information only for reasonable purposes connected to operating The Calgary Loop.
Those purposes may include:
- providing and managing our newsletter;

You can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of our emails or by contacting us at:
We process unsubscribe requests as promptly as reasonably possible and in accordance with applicable Canadian anti-spam requirements.
Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not necessarily require us to delete every record associated with your email address. For example, we may retain a minimal suppression record so that we know not to send newsletters to you again.
4. We do not sell your personal information
We do not sell, rent, or trade subscriber personal information.
We do not provide subscriber email addresses to sponsors, advertisers, event organizers, ticket sellers, or other businesses for their own marketing purposes.

For newsletter subscribers:
- we generally retain your email address while your subscription is active; and
- if you unsubscribe, we may retain the minimum information necessary to record your opt-out and prevent future newsletter emails.
Information that is no longer reasonably required will be deleted, destroyed, or anonymized where appropriate.
Messages and business correspondence may be retained for a reasonable period where necessary to respond to inquiries, maintain business records, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.
